We believe the Bible
teaches:
- Its own divine authority and that it is given by
the inspiration of God (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).
- That there is one God, eternally existing in three
equally divine persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
(Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14).
- That Jesus Christ is the only begotten and eternal
Son of God, miraculously born of the Virgin Mary and the only
one whose life was absolutely sinless
(John 1:1; Matt. 1:18-23;
1 John 3:5).
- That man is universally and utterly sinful by nature
and by practice (Psalms 51:5; 58:3; Gen. 3:1-24; Rom. 3:9-23;
5:12-19), and that it is impossible for him to be saved by his
own works or religious observances
(Eph. 2:3, 9; Titus 3:5; Rom.
4:25; Jer. 17:9).
- That Christ, by His substitutionary death at Calvary,
wholly and eternally paid the penalty for sin, and was raised
from the dead according to the scriptures (1 Cor. 15:3, 4; Rom.
4:25; 5:6-9); and any person who repents from his sin and rests
upon Christ's redeeming work, immediately enters into its benefit
to the present and eternal salvation of his soul (John 5:24;
Heb. 5:9; John 10:28-30); that Christ ascended into heaven and
is now our High Priest and Advocate with the Father
(Luke 24:50-51;
Heb. 7:25-26; 1 John 2:1-2).
- That the Holy Spirit comes to indwell every believer
at conversion and is the one who enables him or her to live a
holy life
(Rom 8:11; Gal. 5:25).
- The resurrection of all believers at the coming
of Christ and the review and reward of their life and works (Luke
14:14; John 5:28-29; Rom. 14:10-12; 1 Cor. 3:11-15).
- The rapture (or catching away) of the church at
the coming of Christ for them in the air (1 Cor. 15:51-57; 1
Thess. 4:13-18); the revelation of Christ at His coming to the
earth prior to the setting up of His Millennial Kingdom (Matt.
24:29-31); the personal, literal reign of Christ over this earth
for 1,000 years
(1 Cor. 15:24-28; Rev. 20:4-6).
- The judgment of the wicked dead at the Great White
Throne judgment after the 1,000 year reign of Christ (Rev. 20:11-13);
the consignment of all such unto everlasting punishment
(Matt.
25:46; Rev. 20:14-15).
- That there are two ordinances for the Church:
Baptism and The Lord's Supper (Matt. 28:19; Acts 8:35-38); The
Lord's Supper is celebrated each Lord's Day as did the early
Church
(Matt. 26:26-28; 1 Cor. 11:23-26; Acts 20:7).
